Character History and Personality:
Like most Avengers who have been around for a long time, Clint’s story is pretty convoluted, weird and not something you’d wish on your worst enemy. It started out pretty simple, though. His parents died and so he joined the circus with his brother. No, wait. That’s still stupid weird.

Nothing about Clint’s life has been ordinary and his coping mechanism for dealing with all this weirdness around him (while having no powers of his own) has been to have a cup of coffee, fight off a headache and get to work. There’s not a lot of things that surprise him anymore and even though he’s mid-30’s and still doesn’t know how to deal with women, he’s seen some serious shit. Clint’s priorities are to help his friends, be an Avenger and get as much sleep as he possibly can. There’s not a lot else to his life than that except bad tv and screwing up personal relationships.

Being raised in a circus wasn’t as fun as a little kid who just lost his parents might think it would be. The entire place was covered with every kind of scam artist and Clint figured out pretty fast that most people aren’t what they say they are on the surface. He was trained by Trick Shot (who turned out to be an asshole) and Swordsman (also an asshole) in archery and fighting. Clint was naturally gifted and eventually became the best shot in the circus. It didn’t take long for him to find out that Swordsman was a thief and when he refused to keep being his little protege, Swordsman left him for dead. Clint’s brother Barney thought he was an idiot for passing up a great opportunity to make extra money and the two brothers were never really the same after that.

Clint traveled from circus to circus after that using the stage name Hawkeye and lived on barely anything at all. It wasn’t until he saw Iron Man save a gaggle of circus-goers that he decided he should use his natural abilities for good. While attempting to get into the Avengers, he first met Black Widow (his future work wife) who tricked him to steal info from the US Government. It didn’t take the Avengers long to realize he meant well and he wanted to be a good guy so he was let into the fledgling team with a bunch of people who had real powers. Not that Clint was intimidated. Okay. So, maybe just a little.

The following years were comic book madness. He was Goliath for a while. He had to face the people he left behind in the circus. He fell in love with Scarlet Witch. Scarlet Witch left him for a robot. He lost his hearing due to his own stupid arrow. He fell in love again with a woman calling herself Mockingbird. She ended up being a Skrull some of the time and then died. He was sent to an alternate dimension. He was sent back. He tried to save his dead wife’s soul. And then he “died” trying to stop the Kree Invasion.

“Died” because he didn’t actually die. Reality warped and he came back as a masked crime fighter that did mostly martial arts. Clint took down the fearsome Bullseye who was wearing his mantle while Osborn was in charge and revealed himself to be alive, much to the joy of other Avenger types. He even let some of them hug him.

So, after all that, Hawkeye still doesn’t get a breather. His ex-wife is actually alive. He’s a teacher at Avenger Academy, an Avenger, a Secret Avenger and one of the two Hawkeyes. His life has been full of trying to get sleep between fighting neighbors, assassins and crazy people. But, at least he has a dog now.

(Ripped out of time right from Issue #17 of his 2012 run)

EDIT: Clint was in the Marvel door for a short time almost a year ago. He does not remember very much of it, but understands how all the stuff works. Since he's been gone, he went back home and tried (unsuccessfully) to stay out of trouble. He's been teaching at Avengers Academy and is sad it's not in this Marvel door.

Journal/Key: Journal is a high tech tablet. Key is a keycard to the Avengers Tower.

Storylines;

Avengers: Fellow crime fighters.
Barney: Brother. Kind of the worst.
Kate Bishop: Fellow Hawkeye. All kinds of awesome.
